So who makes OrangeBand tick? There are a few different ways to answer that (none of which involve paid staff at this point): 1. Thousands of people have OrangeBands, many of whom have them tied to their bags sparking the question, "What's that?" or actually, "What's your OrangeBand?"
2. There is a core committee and support team that rotates each year, not by design as much as the natural convergence and divergence associated with the time during and immediately after college. It's amazing to think that over 100 people have directly contributed to OrangeBand in three years. That's students, faculty, speakers, friends, family, bands, businesses, other nonprofits, attendees at forums, and, of course, the OrangeBand wearers. 3. OrangeBand belongs to anyone who identifies with its mission. If you like what we're doing, it's yours - with one caveat. The Orange Rule is that anyone doing something in name of OrangeBand be mindful of and intentional about representing the organization as nonpartisan, as welcoming to people of diverse viewpoints. OrangeBand is an idea - we can't communicate what we do by letting people taste, touch, or smell it so we have to be certain it's accurately portrayed.
4. Kai Degner, co-founder and Executive Director, remains the HOBO (Head OrangeBand Organizer).
